U2 enter The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame

The ubiquitous U2 are to be inducted into the original Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame by The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen.

Springsteen returns the favour after Bono gave his induction speech in 1999. Bono has also inducted reggae legend Bob Marley, but now the turn to receive is his.

The ceremony will take place March 14 in New York, and will see U2 join the hall of fame with O’Jays, Percy Sledge, The Pretenders and Buddy Guy, in the organisation’s 20th year.

They qualify for the award, with 25 years having passed since their first record was released. However drummer Larry Mullen earlier this year moaned: “They need to change the rules. We're still creative and still out there competing on every level. It would be great to get this when we're 75 and we can bring the grandkids along.”
