Track of the Day: Tigers of Tin Pan, ‘I Cannot See The Doctor’
The eagerly-awaited track from the Irish duo follows their comeback single ‘Don’t Say You Don’t Believe in God’ which was released in September.
Irish duo Tigers of Tin Pan return with their cracking new single ‘I Cannot See The Doctor’. The track captures songwriter John Butler and producer Liam Mulvaney’s alchemy as collaborators.
‘I Cannot See The Doctor’ is a testament to the duo’s ability to blend genres, as they showcase their distinctively gritty and atmospheric sound.
Lyrically, the new track delves into Butler’s personal reflections on a deep-seated fear of doctors and hypochondria, in a relatable exploration of anxiety and nervousness surrounding medical themes. This is all delivered through their psychedelic pop lens, with an irresistible earworm quality.
The duo fully display their knack for thought-provoking songwriting and genre-spanning music. This follows on from their previous single, ‘Don’t Say You Don’t Believe in God’, which skilfully merged Stranglers-like basslines with atmospheric synths.
The track was written from the perspective of an adolescent grappling with questions of faith, indicating a broader creative resurgence for Tigers of Tin Pan, which can be heard as it continues on their latest single.
