Track Of The Day: Joshua Burnside – 'Higher Places'
The track is the first brand new song to be released from Burnside's upcoming album of the same name.
Two weeks ago, Northern Irish singer-songwriter Joshua Burnside announced he would release a sister album to his critically acclaimed sophomore offering Into The Depths of Hell, called Higher Places. Today, he has returned with the title track.
A mix of demos, remixes and new original music, Higher Places promises to be the perfect companion to Burnside's brooding, ominous second album. Into The Depths of Hell was released last year to ecstatic reviews, with Hot Press calling it "an essential entry into the category of Celtic Rock". No doubt, the Co. Down musician will continue in this vein as he prepares to release Higher Places.
Just as immersive as any tune from Into The Depths, 'Higher Places' sees Burnside return to acoustic sonics, allowing a sunbeam to fall on his rich lyricism. Using found sounds and bright production, Burnside is seemingly signalling the end of his foray into Armageddon.
