Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine defends Bruce Springsteen against Trump
The rocker joins Eddie Vedder and Neil Young in their defense of Springsteen.
Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine has critiqued US President Donald Trump over his current feud with Bruce Springsteen.
“Bruce is going after Trump because Bruce, his whole life, he’s been about truth, justice, democracy, equality,” he said on Sunday at a music festival in Boston. “And Trump is mad at him because Bruce draws a bigger audience. Fuck that guy!”
Videos from the performance depict Morello standing in front of a backdrop, featuring images of Trump and words like “tyrant,” “Hater in Chief” and “Fuck Trump.”
“Welcome, brothers and sisters, to the last big event before they throw us all in jail,” Morello said.
This comes after Springsteen called the Trump administration “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous” two weeks ago during the first night of his European tour. The President responded, calling the musician a “dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker” who “ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country.”
Also during his Boston performance, Morello donned a Malcolm X hat, turning his guitar to reveal a ‘Fuck I.C.E.” sign.
“No retreat baby,” he wrote on X. “No surrender.”
