Time Sleeps For No-one
Modest Offering from Irish singer-songwriter, pristine production, catchy melodies, but a tad bland.
Modest OFFERING FROM IRISH SINGER-SONGWRITER
He’s a dab hand at song structures and catchy melodies is singer-songwriter Niall Duffy, and his voice has a lot of character, particularly when matched with backing vocalist Liz Davies. On the downside some of the arrangements scream “session musician” (telltale tasteful dullness) and some of the lyrics are a bit heavy-handed. That said, the guitar playing is often very good in an early ‘90s Irish rock band kind of stylee, the production’s pretty pristine and plenty of bands could learn a lot from him about melody writing. However, a touch more invention about the arrangements would go a long way.
Key Track: ‘God Only Knows’
