Thirteen music videos have now surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube
Music videos from Meghan Trainor and Adele became part of the handful this week
Adele's video for ‘Hello’ surpassed two billion views on YouTube this week, bringing the number of music videos to reach such a landmark to just over a dozen. Meghan Trainor's 'All About That Bass' enjoyed similar success just days prior.
YouTube, which began in 2005, now boasts 1.3 billion users across 88 countries. Users can browse the streaming site in 76 languages, allowing 95 percent of the Internet population to access it.
The UK singer has joined the ranks of Justin Bieber, Wiz Khalifa and others in making such an achievement. None of the music videos to earn the prestige of two billion YouTube views were released before 2012. Psy’s video for 'Gangam Style' leads the way with 2.88 billion views, and may see the 3 billion mark soon. Taylor Swift is the only artist to see two videos surpass 2 billion views, with ‘Shake It Off’ and ‘Blank Space’ both on the list.
