U2 have emerged triumphant from Hot Press' extensive public polling for the 100 Greatest Irish Albums Of All Time
U2 have notched up another accolade by coming first in the 100 Greatest Irish Albums Of All Time, as voted for by Hot Press readers.
"It's simply an album of stunning songs," says RTE Mystery Train man John Kelly of their 1987 masterpiece, The Joshua Tree.
Those sentiments are echoed by reader Deb Christianson who praises: "The scorching power of the music, the pointed, passionate lyrics, the sheer angst, restlessness and intensity" of the record.
The 'People's Choice' poll follows on from our original Top 100 albums issue last November, which was compiled from the votes of several generations of Irish musicians.
Over 10,000 Hot Press and hotpress.com readers helped compile the list, with Damien Rice, Thin Lizzy, Van Morrison, Snow Patrol, My Bloody Valentine and The Frames some of the other acts who'll be chuffed with their strong showing.
Out today, Thursday February 24, it's the definitive list of Ireland's favourite music.
