The Last Tycoon
Peter bjorn and John Frontman strips it down but stays mellow too
This is lovely, lovely stuff from Peter Moren from Peter, Bjorn and John, that band that wrote that song with the whistling that you heard 1,345,345 times last year. Thankfully this isn’t more of the same but is a mellowed-out collection of folk meandering with hand claps, marimbas, quirky percussion instruments, string parts, Theremins and lots of lovely picked guitars. It’s a folk pop album and it’s generally very uplifting and enjoyable. F. Scott Fitzgerald drank himself to death before finishing the novel of the same name, but thankfully Peter Moren stuck around in order to finish this. So, um... well done for that.
Key Track: ‘Le Petit Coeur’
