The House of Love reopens for business
The House of Love celebrate their first album in 12 years with a handful of live dates around Ireland
The '80s shoegazing revival gathers apace with The House Of Love arriving in for dates at the Limelight, Belfast (January 26); Nerve Centre, Derry (27); Village, Dublin (28); and Cyprus Avenue, Cork (29).
After that comes the February 28 release of Days Run Away, their first album since going their separate ways in 1993.
With Guy Chadwick joined by fellow founder members Terry Bickers and Pete Evans, fans can look forward to enthusiastic renditions of 'Beatles & The Stones', 'Girl With The Loneliest Eyes', 'Christine' and – sigh – 'Shine On'.
For those of you who were still in the womb when the band were first doing the rounds, the House Of Love gave My Bloody Valentine a serious run for their money in the rock 'n' roll excess department and had journalists bandying around clichés like "ethereal shards of noise" and "builders of sonic cathedrals."
