The Hot Press Albums Of The Year revealed
It's that time of year again, when we compile our favourite musical creations into a series of subjective lists. After shedding some tears and throwing a few punches in the process here's how the
All our critics' votes have been counted and we can now reveal that, taking the crown of Hot Press Album Of The Year 2012 is Mercury Music Prize winners Alt-J with An Awesome Wave, the album has been a mainstay on the Hot Press office playlist since its release back in May this year.
An all-male top five sees seasoned veterans Bruce Springsteen and Leonard Cohen feature just behind Jack White and Django Django, with Canadian electronic dance trouble maker Grimes just missing out on a top five place (serious tears shed for this one).
Two Door Cinema Club are the highest placed homegrown act with their breakthrough album Beacon, while other Irish artists who made an impression on the all-hearing Hot Press scribes in 2012 included Delorentos, Damien Dempsey, Julie Feeney, Glen Hansard, Cast Of Cheers and Sinead O'Connor.
