The Doors Of The 21st Century for Dublin
Ian Astbury joins former Doors members Krieger and Manzarek for the quasi-reunion at the Dublin Point
The Ceremony resumes on July 4 when The Doors Of The 21st Century pay an Independence Day visit to the Dublin Point.
With Jim Morrison obviously unable to join Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek for the reunion, the role of Lizard King is played by former Cult man Ian Astbury. Drummer John Densmore, who decided against participating for less terminal reasons, is replaced by ex-Police man Stuart Copeland.
So, 35 years or so after the fact, are they any cop or not? The man from the LA Times certainly thinks so: "Yes, it was The Doors' greatest hits with all that that implies. But it was more too. It wasn't Morrison, it wasn't a tribute act. It was Astbury revealing that the familiar songs held new potential."
Tickets for the gig go on sale shortly.
