The City, The Tree And The Fox
Likeable but unoriginal indie schmindie.
Nice melodies, glistening guitars, occasionally distorted vocals, a proudly Irish accent – there’s nothing hugely original about Heritage Centre’s likeable brand of indie-schmindie music, and it wouldn’t go astray on the soundtrack of a television show about attractive teens or doctors, (which seems to be the high watermark for success these days). One track ‘Stars’ even contains the televisually friendly and conceptually vague line “we could be stars in the city”, which could either be a literal desire to be a) ‘Stars in the city’, another moderately successful Dublin band or b) a massive burning mass of energy, which would leave them unable to hold their guitars (because they’d have no hands). Either way, I didn’t like that song. I much preferred the rocking first track, ‘You Are Something’, and I’d really love if they’d sing a song about the unicorn playing football on their album cover.
Key Track: 'You are Something'
