He was using 'I'm On A Boat' for a class on satire
A Vancouver teacher has been suspended without pay for playing The Lonely Island's 'I'm On A Boat' for his class.
The substitute teacher used the videos for that song and Duck Sauce's 'Big Bad Wolf' as examples for an English class on satire. He warned the students that the two videos featured explicit content and gave them the option to leave if they were offended.
One student, however, still reported the incident, prompting the local Teacher Regulation Board to take action.
The board ruled that the Lonely Island track consisted primarily of profanity and that the Duck Sauce video featured inappropriate sexual content, making both unsuitable for classroom usage.
The class in question consisted primarily of fifteen to sixteen-year-old Grade 10 students.
Check out the videos below and determine for yourself whether the suspension was justified.
