Sufjan Stevens announces 5 volume album, shares 'Meditation V'
The new single is the first from the volume called 'Convocations'.
Sufjan Stevens has announced that he will be releasing a five-volume collection called Convocations. The first volume, called Meditations, is due for release tomorrow (April 8), and Stevens has shared 'Meditations V' as its first single. The other volumes, Lamentations, Revelations, Celebrations and Incantations will all be released by May 6.
Written as an homage to his biological father, who passed away 2 days after Stevens released his most recent record, The Ascension, each album is supposed to represent a different phase of grieving. The box set of the project is due for release on August 20.
Stevens' last album was ecstatically reviewed by Hot Press, who called it "empathic and joyous" and said it "will give you something to cling onto, even in the darkest hours."
