Larry Gogan, Cormac Battle, Jenny Greene and Dan Hegarty are among the panel of experts lined up by RTÉ 2fm, to offer advice and assistance to musicians and bands at The Music Show.
The big names from among the 2fm crew will be available at the 2fm area, which will be among the biggest and most important stands at the event. The Music Show takes place at the RDS in Dublin on the weekend of October 4 and 5.
2fm will also be broadcasting from the RDS over the weekend of the show, giving fans of the station a unique opportunity to meet their broadcasting idols. The station will also be making a last call at the show, for entries from young bands for their School of Rock competition, won last year by Future Chaser (formerly Organized Confusion) from Derry.
With this in mind, the Music Show offers a unique opportunity to meet the competition judges face to face, including chairman Larry Gogan and music industry consultant and A&R man Ken Allen of Faction Records. All of the judges will be on hand to give aspiring bands advice on the way to approach their recordings, and how to enter the competition.
School of Rock offers a first prize of a €10,000 gift voucher for Everest Music Shop, plus recording time in Pulse Studios, an interview in Hot Press, a photo shoot with music photographer Enda Casey, a Pure Marshall DAB Digital radio for each band member and an engraved crystal award for their school.
Head of 2fm, John Clarke, will also be at the RDS over the weekend, to participate in a panel on how radio approaches the issue of playlisting records – and how Irish bands and artists can best respond to the challenge posed by radio as a medium.
The Music Show presented by Hot Press in association with RTÉ 2FM runs from October 4-5th in The RDS, Dublin. Saturday 4th October 10 am - 6.30 pm, Sunday 5th October 11 am - 6 pm.
Daily Tickets in advance are €5 for children, €10 for adults and €25 for Families (2 adults + up to 4 children) and are available on Ticketmaster now. Weekend tickets are also available
