Soulful Behaviour
'Soulful Behaviour' - mixed by DJ Addiction - gives you a bit of a flavour of the many shades of d'n'b
Apparently, drum and bass is back! back! BACK! Kids. ’Cept it ain’t really – it’s just that some of the people who used it listen to it ’cos it was cool are now listening to it because they like it. Chosing what to do instead of being told – more of that please.
Anyway, there’s also some decent d’n’b knocking around these days – the dark, dark gear that scared so many away has been replaced by a healthy dash of tunes, melodies and fun. ‘Soulful Behaviour’ – mixed by DJ Addiction – gives you a bit of a flavour of the many shades of d’n’b. It describes itself as ‘future funk’ and that ain’t too far off the mark.
Tracks from Carlito, John B, Fellowship and two tracks from Dublin’s Razor all roll along in a delightful manner; sleek, sexy rollers with nice basslines here and breaks there… but it can all get a bit too anodyne – especially when you listen to the likes of what Brazilians like Marky and Patife are up to.
Still, it’s a fine way to pass an hour or so…
