Slowdive announce first new album in 22 years, share video for ‘Sugar for the Pill’
The band will also stream a live show in London tomorrow.
After months of teasing and the release of their single 'Star Roving' earlier in the year , Slowdive have announced their first new album in 22 years.
The self-titled LP is out on May 5, with the Reading shoegaze band sharing ‘Sugar for the Pill’ with us in the meantime.
Slowdive was recorded at the Courtyard in Oxfordshire and mixed at Los Angeles’ Sunset Sound by Chris Coady. In a press statement, the band’s principal songwriter, Neil Halstead, says, “When you’re in a band and you do three records, there’s a continuous flow and a development. For us, that flow re-started with us playing live again and that has continued into the record.”
The artwork and video for ‘Sugar for the Pill’ were inspired by Harry Smith’s spiritually-minded cult 1957 animation Heaven and Earth Magic.
Slowdive will will live stream their show from The Garage, London,on Facebook tomorrow (March 29) at 4 p.m. Eastern time.
