Sirocco: Lambay
Celtic metallers Craft a classic album...
Inspired by the Viking invasion of Ireland, Celtic metal quartet Sirocco’s third full-length opus is a battle-scarred, bloodthirsty beast that really does go for the jugular. At times bombastic and at others downright neck-bothering (thanks to some gargantuan, galloping riffs) the Waterford band evoke the ghosts of Lizzy, Maiden and King Diamond over the course of eight tracks, while putting their own distinctive stamp on things.
The result is an exceedingly tuneful record that features melodies that’ll embed themselves in your brain for days. Fans of traditional, pagan and epic metal will love the likes of ‘Fallow Unearth’ and ‘The Towers’ and the monstrous, dueling guitars/foot on the monitor-fest that is ‘Kingdom Of Oriel’ is worth the price of admission alone. An Irish metal classic.
