Sharon Horgan wins big at the IFTA TV Awards

Pat Kenny was the Lifetime Achievement recipient at last night's gala affair in Dublin.

It’s been a momentous week for Pat Kenny with the launch of his and Colette Fitzpatrick’s TV3 current affairs show – a healthy 470,000 viewers tuned in over the course of the hour – and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the IFTA TV Awards, which were helmed in Dublin’s DoubleTree hotel by Amanda Byram.
Last night’s other big double-whammy winner was Sharon Horgan who picked up Female Performance and Soap & Comedy Writer gongs.
Male Performance went to Brendan O’Carroll for Mrs. Brown’s Boys while Bob Geldof’s brilliant BBC co-produced tribute to W.B. Yeats, A Fanatic Heart, won Specialist Factual.
There was also much deserved recognition for Red Rock (Soap & Continuing Drama), Bridget & Eamon (Comedy) and An Klondike (Irish Language).
