SexyTadhg releases debut EP Sexy

Ireland's LGBTQ+ breakout star SexyTadhg has released their debut EP Sexy today.

A Carlow native, SexyTadhg is known for their captivating live shows, including recent performances at Electric Picnic in August, and supporting The Mary Wallopers on their UK tour.

Their five-track debut EP, Sexy, celebrates the joy and freedom of the queer experience while also acknowledging the struggle and prejudice that queer individuals face.

Sexy features jazzy, theatrical ballads, featuring anthems such as 'Claim My Love' and the Irish-language song 'Ceannasacht'. They also showcase introspective, forthright tracks such as 'My Parade' and 'Ride the Wave' which speak on topics such as mental health and speaking up towards social justice issues.

Their lyrics are unapologetically commanding and attempt to instil new conventions on what it means to be queer, authentic and resilient in Ireland in 2025.

“Sexy is an introduction to the persona, the drag, the power that allows me to own a stage," says SexyTadhg. "The armour that has protected Tadhg. These songs are moments of self discovery that have strengthened me as a person and now lay the groundwork for my future. Recorded over the last two years, with countless collaborators, musicians, vocalists, brass, strings, it’s orchestral, bold, beautiful, truthful, honest, and above all…SEXY.”

SexyTadhg showcases a new wave of flamboyant and fearless Irish music, along with a dedication to the Irish language and queer visibility.

They are set to perform at Folklore Hoxton in London on November 9, a sold-out show at Wavelength in Cork on November 15 and the Academy in Dublin on November 21. They will also perform a free show at Culture Mo a Dó at Mo Chara in Dundalk this Friday, September 19.
