Selfish Cunt cause a stir on talkback radio
British band Selfish Cunt have been forced to censor their moniker in advertisements for their upcoming debut gig in Dublin
Push Promotions and The Voodoo Lounge have taken down posters publicising an upcoming gig by British electro-punk band Selfish Cunt following adverse media coverage.
Put up at the start of last week, the artwork [pictured] prompted calls of complaint to RTE’s Joe Duffy and FM104’s Adrian Kennedy who both ran items on their respective shows.
Says Push’s Ray Vaughan: “A press ad will appear in the forthcoming edition of The Event Guide, and the billboard poster campaign will begin today (Monday March 14). In both cases the band’s name has been censored with the ‘u’ and the ‘n’ being replaced with dashes. Following discussions with the venue, the gig will go ahead as planned on Thursday March 31 in The Voodoo Lounge. The Cork gig takes place the following night in Fred Zeppelin’s.”
The recipients of a 1 out of 10 Hotpress review for their No Wicked Heart Shall Prosper album – Stuart Clark has gone into hiding for the duration of their visit – the duo have surprisingly had few name-related problems in the UK.
