SHANE MacGOWAN IN ‘Everything Louder Than Everything Else’ Shocker! Yup, the hotpress cover star has made a foray into Kerrang! territory with Celtic pagan metallers Cruachan.
Along with a co-production credit, MacGowan gets to sing four tracks on the Dublin band’s Folk Lore album, including a seriously beefed up ‘Ride On’.
“It was an absolute honour to work with Shane and listen to his advice on trad and music in general,” says mainman John O Fathaigh. “Hopefully we’ll gig with him and The Popes in the future.”
Citing Horslips, Bathory, Sabbat and, ahem, Clannad as key influences, the band have been together since 1992 and released an assortment of EPs and albums on the German Nazgul Eyrie label.
“Irish folk and other forms of Celtic music are really important, it’s what makes Cruachan,” O Faithaigh continues. “We’ll never change the mix.”
