RTÉ TV announces its autumn schedule
A new series of Under Ether and a Bob Geldof Live Aid docudrama are among the musical treats.
Music fans will be delighted to hear that Michelle Doherty will be back in the autumn with a new series of her Under Ether indie-fest, which received rave reviews all round last year when it debuted on RTÉ Two.
Unveiled today, the new RTÉ TV schedule will also include the fly-on-the-wall OMG! It’s Jedward; the Claire Byrne and Daithi Ó Sé-hosted Daily Extra magazine show; the return of The Panel with Craig Doyle at the helm; season two of Brendan O’Connor’s The Saturday Night Show; more well-aimed satire from The Savage Eye; and When Harvey Met Bob, which co-stars Harry Potter’s Domhnall Gleeson as Bob Geldof and Backbeat's Ian Hart as his Live Aid co-conspirator Harvey Goldsmith.
"We were inspired by this story because it has, at its heart, a fantastic relationship that is funny, moving and borne out of the real drama of trying to achieve something huge and unprecedented,” says Kate Triggs whose Great Meadow Productions assembled the one-off drama. “It's a film about two men who are prepared to think the unthinkable and achieve the seemingly impossible.”
Also getting a big build up is Love/Hate, a new four-part series set in Dublin’s gangland starring Robert Sheehan and Aidan Gillen who’s currently enjoying cross-channel success as the star of the BBC’s Identity series.
