Rosalía to receive International Songwriter of the Year at Ivor Novello Awards
It follows the release of her widely acclaimed 2025 record LUX.
Rosalía has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Songwriter of the Year at the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards.
Presented on May 21 with Amazon Music, this award celebrates an international songwriter whose released songs had a cultural and commercial impact in the UK over the past year.
It follows the release of Rosalía’s widely acclaimed 2025 album LUX, known for its use of 13 different languages and genre-bending qualities.
The record received a 9.5/10 from Hot Press, who said that the piece was “at once innovative, challenging and very special. Nothing like this record has ever been done, and that is not a statement to be taken lightly.”
Upon release, LUX received 5 Billboard No.1 chart placements, debuting at No.4 on the Billboard 200.
Roberto Neri, CEO of The Ivors Academy “We are proud to celebrate Rosalía as International Songwriter of the Year. Her songwriting has captured the hearts and minds of audiences around the globe.
“With lyrics in over 13 languages,” he continued, “Rosalía has broken down barriers and borders, and I’m delighted she will be celebrated by our community and industry as she picks up her first Ivor Novello Award. This recognition reflects our growing global outlook and celebrates songwriters defining music and culture.”
With this award, Rosalía joins a roll call of songwriter greats that includes Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, David Bowie, Adele, RAYE, Stormzy, Bill Withers, Bruce Springsteen, Brian Wilson, Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, and many more.
