Root For Ruin
Manic A.D.D. rock
‘Show us your teeth and show us your tits and show us the scars from the shit that you did,’ sings Tim Harrington on the opening track, ‘Appetites’. Yes, Les Savy Fav are still a pretty unforgiving bunch lyrically, but their insistent guitar twang and groovy drum battery have, through the vagaries of the zeitgeist, become a more mainstream proposition in recent years with many younger bands employing a similar approach. Still, Harrington has the depraved libertarian lifestyle suitable for hollering maniacally over insistently guitars, syncopated bass lines and hyperactive tom-tom action, while many of the younger pretenders are secretly fiscal-conservatives who live with their parents by choice and like the gentle humour of Last of the Summer Wine.
Key Track: ‘Lips n’ Stuff’
