Robert Plant Confirmed For The Picnic
The Electric Picnic has announced its second wave of acts, which makes that August 30 – September 1 trip to Stradbally even more essential!
Leading the charge is veritable rock behemoth Robert Plant who’ll be bringing his Sensational Space Shifters with him.
Far from being Stalinist, Percy is positively embracing his Led Zep past with ‘Friends’, ‘Black Dog’, ‘Going To California’, ‘Bron-Y-Aur Stomp’, ‘Four Sticks’. ‘Ramble On’, ‘Friends’, ‘Heartbreaker’, ‘What Is And What Should Never Be’, ‘Rock And Roll’ and ‘Whole Lotta Love’ all featuring at various points on his recent Australian and New Zealand tour.
Flying the Irish flag are Little Green Cars who scored their first Irish number one last week with Absolute Zero.
Joining them are Ellie Goulding, The Beat, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Cayucas, Big Black Delta, Charli XCX, Miles Kane, Crystal Fighters, Gavin James, Dawes, John Grant, Lady Lamb The Beekeeper, Lulu James, Night Beds, No Ceremony, Space Dimension Controller, Valerie June, Chrome Sparks, Matthew E. White and Factory Floor.
Paying a trip to the Mindfield is the man whose life story is told in Good Vibrations, Terri Hooley.
Meanwhile, previously announced heavy hitters Franz Ferdinand have confirmed the August 23 release here of long overdue fourth album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action.
Having heard a good few of the tracks last year when Alex and the chaps rocked Limerick’s Dolan’s Warehouse to its very foundations, we reckon it’s going to be a beast of a record.
