Radio Nova granted Classic Rock licence

Radio Nova 100 were the lucky recipients yesterday of the in-demand Classic Rock licence for Dublin and the commuter belt.

The station was considered for the licence along with Dublin Rock Radio Limited and East Coast Digital Media Limited, the people behind Phantom 105.2 and East Coast Radio respectively.

The main man at Radio Nova 100, Kevin Branigan, has experience in the Dublin radio market as he's previously run several temporary stations in the city, including 949 The Rock, which was last year granted a ten-week licence by the BCI.

The station promises a mix of news, lifestyle and music aimed at 25-54 year-olds; the kind of people who grew up on The Old Grey Whistle Test, Like Now, John Peel, Dave Fanning and BP Fallon.

According to Radio Nova 100's application, listeners can look forward to hearing the likes of Queen, U2, Thin Lizzy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Police, Bob Seger, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, The Clash, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, and much much more.
