Breakout neo-soul act Rachel Mae Hannon announces Whelan's headline show

Monaghan-born, Dublin-based singer-songwriter Rachel Mae Hannon has announced a Whelan's headline show in celebration of her upcoming EP, Like It Is.

The debut EP from Hannon will be available on all streaming platforms from the 8th of October, while her exciting forthcoming Upstairs at Whelan's gig will take place on November 7th, 2021.

Drawing influence from the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, Amber Mark, London Grammar and Tom Misch; Rachel skilfully blends the boundaries between pop and neo-soul.

The neo-soul/pop singer released her debut single 'Be in Love’ last year; receiving rave reviews and clocking up over 320,000 streams on Spotify. Since then, she has released two more singles in the form of 'Alright' and ‘Closer' from Like It Is.

'Closer' was written and recorded between Hannon's homes in Monaghan and Dublin. Cian Sweeney produced, mixed, and mastered the single, which also features David Joyce on guitar and Chris Walsh on bass.

The musician has seen airplay across stations such as RTÉ 2fm, RTÉ Radio 1, Today Fm, Spin 103.8, Cork’s Red FM, 98FM, WLRFM, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Sounds, FM 104, RTÉ 2XM and many more.

As well as that, she recently performed on the Hot Press Y&E Series, the US Embassy Creative Minds event in the Grand Social, the Iontas Online Sessions and has also supported St. Bishop in his headline gig in the Workman’s Club on September 13th.
