Philomena Lynott receives Bertie invite
Bertie Ahearn demonstrated his support for the Grafton Street tribute to Phil Lynott by inviting the Thin Lizzy man’s mother, Philomena, to the Department An Taoiseach in Merion Square last week.
The life size bronze statue will be unveiled on August 19 as a curtain-raiser to the following day’s big Philo gig in The Point, which will include appearances by Lizzy old boys Gary Moore, Brian Downey, Eric Bell, Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson.
There’s more good news for fans with the release this week through Mercury of a Greatest Hits DVD. The 19-track collection includes their legendary January 1973 Top Of The Pops appearance performing ‘Whiskey In The Jar’.
