Philharmonics
Pastoral loveliness
Philharmonics is a collection of sparse and gentle (sometimes instrumental) Satie-like piano melodies, embellished by acoustic guitar, harps, strings and organs, over which a Danish-accented lady harmonises with herself about pastoral subject matter (rivers, sparrows, flowers, animals and love). It’s richly textured and folky and generally very lovely. The standout track is the Johnny Cash referencing ‘Close Watch’ (refrain: “I keep a close watch on this heart of mine”).
Key Track: ‘Close Watch’
