Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, Florence and the Machine to appear in Terence Malick music drama
Song To Song will also feature an ensemble cast, with Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman and Christian Bale all expected to star.
According to Indiewire, the premise for the film is: “In this modern love story set against the Austin, Texas music scene, two entangled couples — struggling songwriters Faye (Rooney Mara) and BV (Ryan Gosling), and music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and the waitress whom he ensnares (Natalie Portman) — chase success through a rock ‘n’ roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.”
Malick's new film will be his third in as many years, after 2016's Voyage of Time and 2015's Knight of Cups. His prolific directorial output in recent years is in contrast to the period between 1973-2011, where he created just five films, including the critically acclaimed and culturally appreciated Badlands and Days of Heaven.
Song To Song is scheduled for release on March 17 this year through Broad Green Pictures.
