Mr. Lana Del Rey comes out fighting on album number two
A mere 12 months since the release of their well-received debut record Hope St., Glaswegian alt. folk quartet Kassidy return armed with a new offering that boasts a bigger, ballsier sound and more mature songwriting.
Opening with the (relatively) raucous instrumental ‘Kallista,’ the band really kick into gear with the classic ‘70s rock-tinged ‘Get By’ – and from there they deliver bombastic, stadium-sized efforts that are sure to appeal to devotees of Kasabian, Keane and melodic indie. Co-singer/guitarist Barrie-James O’Neill puts in some great performances in particular and with the likes of ‘The Hunted’ and the galloping ‘I Can’t Fly’ in their locker it’s only a matter of time before the world pays attention to their music, rather than their frontman’s liaisons with Ms.Lana Del Ray.
