The British singer performed two tracks from Black Star Dancing at his London Palladium gig last night.
Former Oasis guitarist and current High Flying Birds frontman Noel Gallagher performed new songs from his forthcoming EP Black Star Dancing, due out 14 June, at his London Palladium show on 9 May.
The two tunes, ‘Black Star Dancing’ and ‘Rattling Rose,’ were released to the public within the past week. ‘Black Star Dancing’ dropped as a single on 2 May, with the release of its psychedelic music video following on the 8th. According to Gallagher, the track “manages to combine the influences of David Bowie, INXS, U2, Queen, Indeep AND ZZ Top FFS!” Nile Rodgers has called it “dope.”
‘Rattling Rose’ was performed for the first time at the Edinburgh Playhouse on 7 May. With guitars, tambourines and band instruments abounding, this tune has a classic beat prime for grooving along.
Gallagher’s new releases this year won’t stop with these two songs, or even the Black Star Dancing EP, for that matter: as the 51-year-old declared on Radio X, “I’ve got three EPs coming out this year – three four-track EPs,” the second of which is set to be “a very Mancunian-sounding record.”
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will play Dublin’s Malahide Castle on 16 June, shortly after the first EP’s release two days earlier. The band last performed in Ireland in May 2018, when they took 3Arena by storm in celebration of their UK chart-topping 2017 album Who Built the Moon?.
Tonight, he plays Hull's Bonus Arena in England before embarking on the rest of the tour, which includes the Malahide stop and will end in Exeter on 30 June.
Throughout the tour, Gallagher has performed a combination of tunes from his current repertoire, from his past venture Oasis and even from English legends The Beatles. As captured by various audience members, his Palladium setlist featured songs like the High Flying Birds’ ‘Dead in the Water’…
