Nealo has extended his previously announced anniversary gig into an all-Ireland tour.
To celebrate the one year anniversary of his acclaimed album All The Leaves Are Falling, neo-jazz hip hop artist Nealo has announced a five date tour across Ireland.
Expanding from the previously announced Button Factory gig in Dublin, Nealo will also play venues in Galway, Cork, Waterford and Belfast to close his All The Leaves Are Falling era. Each of the dates will take place in October.
The album, Nealo's first as a solo artist, was the Dublin native's way of channeling as many of his emotions as he could into a piece of music. In an interview with Hot Press last year he spoke about the need for men to speak about difficult emotions such as grief and loss. "As Irish people, we tend not to really discuss those things as much. That’s why I think we have such a high suicide rate here, and such a high level of emigration. We tend to shy away from speaking about the things that are inevitable in life – like death," he said.
All The Leaves Are Falling was an exploration of his own journey and experiences through the seasons of life in the form of 10 tracks. Due to Covid, Nealo has yet to perform with such a personal setlist.
“The band of my youth, Frustration, broke up in 2015. We used to go on big tours once or twice a year. I remember waiting all summer to go on tour and the feeling of excitement that getting into the van on that first morning would bring with it. I haven’t been able to feel that feeling in 6 or 7 years, but this year I have a chance to hold some of that excitement again. I have missed playing music to crowds and the fact that I get to do it with my own project now is an incredible feeling," he says.
