Momentum Festival kicks off in Galway this weekend - featuring The Stunning, The Coronas, The Scratch, and more
Organisers say the festival is expected to contribute €3.5 million to the local economy
The inagural edition of Momentum Festival will be kicking off this May Bank Holiday weekend. The lineup features a number of acclaimed Irish acts like The Coronas, The Scratch, The Stunning, and Mark McCabe.
Momentum takes place from May 1 - May 4 in Oranmore, Galway. The Stunning - who were formed in Galway in 1997 - headline proceedings on Friday night, with support from The Riptide Movement and and Tracey Buen.
Saturday, or The Big Day Out, is set to bring 90s and 00s nostalgia through acts like Sonique, B*witched, D:Ream, Rednex, Mark McCabe, Naughty Noughties and host for the day, Fergal D’Arcy.
Chart-topping trio The Coronas top the bill on Sunday. They will be joined by soul-pop artist Calum Agnew and singer-songwriter Oscar Blue.
Closing the festival’s inaugural weekend are folk-metal noisemakers The Scratch, who are joined by Cliffords and Madra Salach, alongside special guests Talllon and Groev - two of Galway’s most exciting local acts.
Set in Galway’s Wild Atlantic Way village of Oranmore, one of Ireland’s fastest-growing towns, Momentum Festival draws on a catchment of approximately 75,000 people. All performances will take place under The Crescendo Tent, a tented live music space with a nightly capacity of 4,200.
Organisers say the festival is expected to contribute €3.5 million to the local economy, supporting hospitality and retail businesses throughout the village.
