Mitski hints at new album using cryptic phone link
Mitski created an interactive fan experience to tease new album.
Japanese and American singer-songwriter Mitski, has hinted at a new album with a cryptic phone line.
After wiping her Instagram clean, Mitski posted a 40 second clip in which she is seen dancing and humming around a kitchen, seemingly cooking something.
She also added a website link in her Instagram bio, wheresmyphone.net. Once clicked, the link takes you to a page with a picture of an iPhone lock screen with messages which seem to be from fans addressing Mitski in real time.

This would be Mitski’s 8th studio album after the release of The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We in 2023. The third single on the album, ‘My Love Mine All Mine’ was her first song to be on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Mitski released a concert film in 2025, directed by James Grant entitled The Land, which captured three nights of her 2024 tour. In the post-credit scene of the film, an unknown voice asks Mitski “So I hear you're putting out an album” to which she responds “Album? What album? Did I forget something?”.
her social media also has a sign-up link with the title “This phone has been lost”, prompting an automatic message that says “Thank you for your help”. Fans have noticed the battery on the iPhone slowly decreasing, possibly acting as a countdown to the album's release.
