Mick Flannery announces double record The House Must Win
The first single, 'Rising Tide', is available to stream now.
Mick Flannery has announced his first double record, The House Must Win, out May 8 – featuring new music from his upcoming stage production of the same name.
The album marks Flannery's ninth studio album and was recorded in Cork City with long-time collaborator Christian Best and American producer and arranger Liam Robinson.
The House Must Win is described as a collection of 20 songs that, through Flannery’s signature storytelling lyrics, build out a world where tension becomes part of the landscape.
The record features an array of special guest artists, including Anaïs Mitchell, Jeffrey Martin, Jenn Grant, Lisa Hannigan, and Susan O'Neill, and Mick’s brothers Brian, David, and Eamonn Flannery, who make their recording debut alongside him on 'Take It on the Chin', from Evening Train.
To accompany the album announcement, Flannery has released the first track, 'Rising Tide'.
'Rising Tide' is a delicate duet ballad featuring Anaïs Mitchell. Mick has long admired Anaïs's work, and this will mark their second collaboration, following on from his 2020 single ‘Minnesota’.
"I have sincere gratitude to Anaïs for her continued support and, in this case, for lending her beautiful voice to this recording,” said Flannery.
