Mastodon announce new EP after Game of Thrones cameo

Mastodon returned to Game of Thrones on Sunday evening for the breathtaking season 7 finale, playing the role of white walkers in the final, dramatic scene.

Several of the band members, Brann Dailor, Bill Kelliher and Brent Hinds, appeared previously during a season 5 episode as wildlings.

The heavy metal band have also previously contributed the song 'White Walker' to the Catch the Throne: Volume II mixtape released in 2015.

Mastodon have also announced a new EP, Cold Dark Place. It features four previously unreleased tracks from the band, three of which were recorded during the band's sessions for their 2014 album Once More 'Round the Sun.

Cold Dark Place will be released on September 22.
