Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On set for 50th anniversary reissue
The Grammy Museum will play host to a Let’s Get It On 50th anniversary celebration on 23 August.
The legendary Marvin Gaye’s seminal album Let’s Get It On is set for a reissue across digital platforms to mark its 50th anniversary on 25 August.
The expanded edition will have 33 bonus tracks and 18 previously unreleased recordings, including the sessions for a scrapped album of ballads that took place in 1973 which were rerecorded a few years later.
The bumper project will also feature new mixes of the David Van DePitte Sessions, mostly instrumental tracks that were arranged and composed by DePitte and Gaye before Let’s Get It On.
Several of these songs feature jazz icon Herbie Hancock playing the piano.
The Grammy Museum will play host to a Let’s Get It On 50th anniversary celebration on 23 August with appearances from Smokey Robinson, Jimmy Jam and David Ritz who wrote the acclaimed biography Divided Soul.
