Love Crisis
Not an exceptional album, but there’s enough originality on this to make it one you will return to.
An assured debut of surprising sounds from the normally one-dimensional (but it’s a nice dimension) Glasgow Undeground. Williams’ debut is a delightful affair – quite contemporary in its outlook, but retro in some of the sounds. Check the ’80s electro funk of ‘Bad Boy’, the phat Carl Craig-y breaks and filtered jazz of ‘Jesus Jazz’ or the stuttery, Kraftwerk-y broken beats of title track. Not an exceptional album, but there’s enough originality on this to make it one you will return to.
