Lil Nas X announces September release date for debut album Montero
The 'Montero' artist's first-ever album is coming soon.
Lil Nas X has revealed the release date for his much-anticipated debut album Montero, along with a trailer for another new track.
Featuring hits such as 'Industry Baby' and 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name)', the record will arrive on September 17.
"Creating this album has been therapy for me," he tweeted with the album's announcement.
"I’ve learned to let go of trying to control people’s perception of who I am, what I can do, and where I will be. I’ve realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own."
Lil Nas X (real name Montero Lamar Hill) gained prominence from his surprise hit 'Old Town Road' from his EP 7 in 2019.
Since then, he's won two Grammy Awards for the track, as well as being an advocate for LGBT rights after coming out as gay.
His recent video for 'Industry Baby' featuring Jack Harlow was created alongside his Bail X Fund, a campaign to end cash bail due to its impact on African Americans.
According to The Bail Project, cash bail is "one of the key drivers of mass incarceration and structural racism in the U.S. criminal legal system."
Fans can pre-save his upcoming album on Spotify and Apple Music here.
