Liam O’Connor launches new album
The man that the Guinness Book of World Records describes as the “fastest fingers in the world” officially released his new album Live at Ronnie Scott’s in Finnegan’s Pub in Dalkey, Co Dublin.
The Killarney accordionist performed tracks from the new record - his sixth to date - to a packed crowd at the launch.
The titular Ronnie Scott’s is a jazz club in Soho, London where the album was recorded live. It was the site of Jimi Hendrix’s final live performance. Perhaps an apt location considering that O’Connor is often dubbed the “Hendrix of the accordion.”
The album has an eclectic mix of influences and contains elements of trad, rock, folk, reggae and jazz and was mastered at Abbey Road. O’Connor was joined at the event by his new manager Sarah Newman of Dragon’s Den fame and Newstalk's Pat Kenny.
