Lemonade Shoelace looks ahead to Electric Picnic: "There’s such a crazy line-up – there are so many amazing Irish artists I’m looking forward to seeing live for the first time"

"This year, with Electric Picnic’s size and the excitement of being somewhere with so many people, it makes it really special. When you’re there to have a good time, it doesn’t matter who you are, what age you are; it’s just a magical place. Seeing big stars come and play in Ireland is very special, I always think we’re forgotten about.

"I played EP in 2022, it was the year Tame Impala was headlining. It’s still my favourite Electric Picnic performance. I’m a massive fan, and he’s inspired a lot of my music, so to be playing the festival with Tame Impala was a huge thing for me.

"My set is an hour this year, so I’ve a lot of time to go through new and old songs. I’m going to be playing a lot of new stuff – I’ve been writing and playing songs for a long time now. I want to give people something new, but I also want to throw back to some earlier songs that I haven’t really performed live that much.

"The thing about playing festivals is you don’t know who’s going to be there. With gigs, you know the size of the room. But I love walking out at a festival – you don’t know what the stage or crowd is going to look like until you’re out there. It’s very exciting seeing all sorts of people wander in and enjoy themselves.

"I’m a big Gorillaz fan so it’s great to be playing with another big inspiration of mine this year. There’s such a crazy line-up – there are so many amazing Irish artists I’m looking forward to seeing live for the first time.

"Electric Picnic being sustainable is very important to me. I have a thing against disposable vapes – I know that Electric Picnic does as well. I need to be going to a festival where they take sustainability seriously, with vapes specifically, as much as I do.

"The introduction of the orange bins is an amazing idea. Irish people love to drink. The more drink, the more bottles and cans, which means more money for children’s charities. The more sustainable and clean we are, the tidier the festival will be – it helps everyone. It’s an amazing thing to do."

Lemonade Shoelace plays the ArtLot stage at Electric Picnic 2026 (August 28-30).
