Lady Gaga forced to testify in legal dispute between Dr. Luke and Kesha
Dr. Luke’s lawyers have issued a subpoena to Lady Gaga after she repeatedly refused to testify.
Lady Gaga will have to testify in court and reveal what she knows about the relationship between Dr. Luke and his protégé, Kesha.
Kesha and Dr. Luke have been embroiled in a legal battle since 2014, after Kesha alleged that Dr. Luke was physically and sexually abusive.
Dr. Luke’s lawyers said the subpoena was issued after Lady Gaga refused to set a date to testify despite several requests.
In a statement made to Variety on Saturday, Dr. Luke’s lawyer said: “Dr. Luke's counsel served a subpoena on Lady Gaga because she has relevant information regarding, among other things, false statements about Dr. Luke made to her by Kesha."
Text exchanges between Lady Gaga and Kesha were submitted as evidence last year, but the judge made the messages confidential.
According to Dr. Luke’s legal advisor, several other unnamed celebrities are likely to be called to the stand to reveal information about the relationship between Kesha and Dr. Luke.
Up until now, Lady Gaga has been a public supporter of her friend Kesha’s legal battle with Dr. Luke.
Still, to follow up three requests for testimony with a legally-binding subpoena shows that Dr. Luke’s legal team must have a very specific plan for how they will approach Lady Gaga’s testimony when she finally brings her ‘Poker Face’ to court.
