Kojaque shares video for brand new single 'Coming Up'
Take a look at the new video from the Soft Boy Records co-founder below.
Ahead of the release of his highly anticipated new album, Kojaque has shared the video for his new single 'Coming Up'.
Further establishing his reputation for visually captivating and innovative music videos, the Cabra artist's latest project journeys from a bloody car ride, to a neon fever dream. 'Coming Up' also marks a bold new direction in Kojaque's sound – combining auto-tuned vocals with stunning cinematic strings.
He reveals the new single was written after coming home from a party last year.
"This dude who used to bully me in school was there and I remember him being a dickhead at the party," he recalls. "I could never stand up to him when I was a kid but I stood up to him that night, I think it took him by surprise and I remember being so pissed off because I let it effect me, it felt like being 15 again. It’s the sort of feeling that makes you wanna give up, but I snapped out of it and thought, no fuck that, I won’t let it affect me, I’m not a kid anymore. And I wrote ‘Coming Up’ that night. I think the tune was an effort to shake that feeling, it was kind of a fuck you.”
The new single follows 'SHMELLY', released earlier this year . His highly anticipated new album is expected in the coming months, continuing what has already been a remarkable journey for the Irish rapper – following the release of his Choice Music Prize-nominated project Deli Daydreams in 2018; last year's collaborative mixtape with Luka Palm, Green Diesel; high-profile festival appearances; a support slot for Lana Del Rey at Malahide Castle; a tour with slowthai and a coveted spot on YouTube Music's Foundry programme. Kojaque's also a co-founder of Soft Boy Records, which has rapidly built up a reputation as one of the most forward-thinking, boundary-pushing independent labels in the country, with a roster that includes fellow co-founder Kean Kavanagh, Gaptoof, Luka Palm, Wastefellow, Brién and more
