King of the hill
SHANE MacGOWAN & THE Popes headline the Ned Of The Hill Festival in Upper Church on August 10th.
Looking forward to his first live engagement in Tipperary since 1988, MacGowan tells hotpress: “There will be a lot of locals at this festival, and most of them will be people I’ve known all my life. Tipperary has changed a lot over the years but not too much. People have more money so the pubs are full all the time, instead of some of the time. It’s the same chaotic and boozy place it always was and the people aren’t doing anything, which the English would say is ‘constructive’ with their money. It’ll be a hot one.”
The Ned Of The Hill Festival runs from August 10th to 13th. Other attractions over the weekend include The Paddys, Louise Morrissey, Royal Flush and The International Roisin Final featuring lovely lasses from all over the world. Tickets for the Shane MacGowan & The Popes show are on sale now priced £25.
We’ll have more words of wisdom from young Shane in an upcoming issue.
