Kevin Rowland to spin decks in Belfast
Dexy’s Midnight Runners mainman Kevin Rowland arrives in on May 4 for a DJ set in McHugh’s, Belfast.
Part of the 8th Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, the still-dapper singer will be spinning everything from classic soul (natch) to aciiiiiiid house. The ginormous Van Morrison fan that he is – see www.myspace.com/dexysmidnightrunners for proof – don’t be surprised if he includes a track or five from Astral Weeks.
The even better news is that Rowland’s currently assembling a new Dexy’s album, which includes the Marvin Gaye-referencing ‘It’s OK Johanna’.
Also Belfast-bound as part of the festival are Loudon Wainwright, Chuck Brodsky, The Sadies, Gareth Pearson, David Allen, Marcos Valle Y Grupo, Conway Savage and the band Nirvana admitted to borrowing from wholesale, The Melvins.
