Juliet Turner hits the States
Juliet Turner's Season Of The Hurricane album will be released in the US this month through Valley Entertainment
Juliet Turner has signed a coveted licensing deal with the US sales and distribution company, Valley Entertainment, for her Season Of The Hurricane album. The record, which was greeted with widespread critical acclaim when it was released in Ireland and the UK in 2004, will hit the shops in North America at the end of April.
“We had a number of companies that wanted to sign the record,” Juliet’s manager Derek Nally told Hot Press, “but Valley were the most impressive. The whole operation is very strong and they have a great distribution set-up. Their MD, Jon Birge, is very experienced and knows the business inside out.”
While the titles haven’t yet been revealed, singles will be an important part of the Turner campaign.
“Valley have committed to releasing two singles from the album, which is really important,” Nally added. “I am a great believer in singles, especially where it comes to generating radio play, which you need with a new artist – which is what Juliet is in the States.”
Prior to his involvement with Valley, Birge was manager of Melissa Etheridge and at different stages of his career he has worked with Island, EMI and Epic Records. Season Of The Hurricane will remain on the Hear This! label in the US, which is owned by Nally and Turner, but will be promoted and distributed by Valley under the licensing deal.
A series of US dates are being planned for Turner later this year.
