JJ72 appoint new bassist
And (shock horror) it's former Valves woman, Sarah Fox. The hotpress.com Psychic Dept. confirm February's speculations... Pic: Roger Woolman
As revealed by Hot Press in February, Hilary Woods' place in JJ72 has been taken by Valves bassist Sarah Fox. There's also talk of their live pianist, Toby, becoming a permanent member of the band.
Fox made her live debut with them on Saturday when the JJs and Feeder joined forces for an acoustic BBC Northern Ireland show in Belfast.
The band also debuted three new songs – 'Maria', 'Nothing Is The World' and 'Everything' – which are earmarked for their third album.
Fox's split with The Valves appears to be amicable with the band saying in a statement that, "We were hoping it wouldn't happen but I think we were trying to put off the inevitable. We wish her well in her new career and would like to express our thanks for all the hard work she's put into The Valves over the last year. Keep us in mind for a support slot Sarah!"
Prior to joining The Valves, Fox served time with Shark Attack, Dead At Recess, The Fangs and Bunny Hoover who she describes as "Shit but popular!"
A concert harpist since the age of 13, she also sung with a jazz combo called The Magnetics and is currently gigging in the States with Adrian Crowley. Busy woman or what?
