Jedward win Eurosong 2011
The hyperactive duo will represent us in Dusseldorf
Congrats to Jedward who won Friday night's Eurosong 2011 contest during a Late Late Show special. The boys, aka John and Edward Grimes, will go on to the Eurovision semi-finals taking place in Dusseldorf, Germany on May 12 and if they make it into the Top Ten they'll advance to the final two nights later. Jedward won by a slim two-vote margin on Friday night by a mixture of jury and tele-voting with their song 'Lipstick'.
So what about the song? Well...it's kitschy, catchy, extremely unoriginal and certainly the most garish thing we've unleashed on Europe since Linda Martin's 'Terminal 3', but with the average Eastern-European entry these days resembling a cross between a drag show and a pyrotechnics-trade convention, the larger than life spectacle of Jedward could maybe get all the right attention.
